About

The workshop behind TARC-AIR.

TARC-AIR is run out of Mount Barker by Craig, an auto electrician who’s been wiring up vehicles in the Adelaide Hills for years. The workshop opened on Sector Road as a place where local drivers, tradies and 4WD owners can get auto electrical and air conditioning done properly without having to drive into Adelaide.

We’re authorised by the Australian Refrigeration Council under licence AU58387, which means we can legally service automotive refrigerant systems on cars, utes and 4WDs. We use manufacturer-grade scan tools for diagnostics, the same equipment dealerships use, so faults get found rather than guessed at.

Bookings come through Workshop Software so you can pick a time online without phone tag. Drop the car off, walk to a Mount Barker café, drive away sorted.

The workshop covers Mount Barker, Hahndorf, Stirling, Strathalbyn, Nairne, Littlehampton and most other Hills suburbs within twenty minutes of Sector Road.

How the system works

From booking to drive-away. No phone tag, no surprise pricing.

Most local workshops still run on phone calls and gut-feel quotes. We built TARC-AIR around online booking, written diagnostics and quoted-before-work pricing because that's how it should have been working all along.

  1. 01

Book online in about a minute

Pick a day Mon to Fri, give us your make and model, tell us what's happening with the car. The booking goes straight into Workshop Software so Craig sees it before you arrive.

  2. 02

Drop off, head to a café

Workshop is on Secker Road, ten minutes off the freeway. Most Hills suburbs are inside twenty minutes. Drop the keys, walk to Mount Barker for coffee while we work.

  3. 03

    Diagnose first

Manufacturer-grade scan tool plugs into the OBD port. We read live ECU data, log fault codes and isolate the actual fault before swapping any parts. Aircon work goes through pressure test and leak detection first.

  4. 04

    Quote in writing

You get a written quote before any repair work goes ahead. If the diagnostic finds something out of scope, we'll tell you straight whether it's worth fixing or not. The diagnostic fee is credited toward the repair if you go ahead with us.

  5. 05

    Repair and log

Refrigerant work is logged under our ARC licence the way the law requires. Wiring repairs are documented so the next person who works on the car can see what was done. Photos taken before and after where it helps.

  6. 06

    Drive away sorted

We'll text you when the car's ready. Pay on collection, take the receipt and the workshop notes. If anything's not right after the job, ring Craig directly on 0401 878 987 and we'll sort it.

What we won't do

  • Guess at parts. If it isn't diagnosed, it isn't quoted.
  • Touch refrigerant without logging it. ARC compliance keeps your warranty valid and the work above-board.
  • Add work without telling you. Scope changes get a phone call before any extra labour goes in.
  • Push you toward a fix that isn't worth it. If the car's not worth the repair, we'll say so.

Most locals book a slot the same week. Drop the car off, walk to a café, drive away sorted.
